Crowd Bites Wolf: The origins of anti-globalization #RiotPorn

Back in the early 00’s when I was part of my local Indymedia, we would organize political documentary screenings. It was a pretty simple task: Choose a film, book the venue, promo, set up, press play. Easy right? Except that one time one of my peeps suggested we screen Guerillavision’s “Crowd Bites Wolf.” While everyone in the group loved the film, some strongly felt that the “riot porn” would turn people off. Until that fateful day I had never heard the term “riot porn”, and even though we could not reach consensus on screening this gem, I took the tape home and my life was changed forever. The film is about the the World Bank and IMF meetings in Prague in 2000, and of all the different “blocs” who fought the police in different ways and shut down the lavish shindigs. If you want to get a glimpse of why I do what I do, check out this hilarious, creative, riotus, and inspiring piece of anarchist agit-prop cinema.
