Here at subMedia.tv, we’re totally into smoothies. Almost aaaas much as we’re into tacos! We’re also deep into hip-hop. So this is why we’re proud to world premiere Jared Paul’s latest video 8 Dollar Smoothie from the album Get my Ghost
From Jared Paul!
I grew up below the poverty-line in subsidized housing. I qualified for the free lunch at school, and on occasion ate government cheese with off-brand saltines while watching cartoons. I’ve been vegan for the last eighteen years. Now Bill Clinton is vegan and you can get soy milk with your coffee all over the country. Vegan restaurants are popping up left and right, and large grocery stories are reorganizing to include large “vegetarian sections.†It’s hip to be vegan and the price gouging frenzy is now in high gear! Delicious fruit smoothies used to go for $4, nowadays it’s difficult to find one for less than $8-$12. The cost of living has gone up while wages have remained stagnant, but this is ridiculous. Working class folks are being priced out of the healthy dining experience and many folks who’ve been vegan for years can’t even afford to eat at vegan restaurants! This is financial segregation, and as an eighteen year vegan, you can count me OUT. I refuse to pay $8 for smoothie. Vegan restaurants can charge whatever they want to cash in on the trend, we’ll head to the farmers market instead. It’s as easy as picking up some fresh fruit and breaking out my trusty blender: three friends pooling $8 a piece will buy enough fruit to make twenty smoothies.
